Brian Scott Award

Flagship Niagara League Hosts Dobbins Society Meeting to Announce Annual Award

Flagship Niagara League (FNL) held a meeting tonight for the Daniel Dobbins Leadership Giving Society, an extension of the FNL, to present the 1st Annual Award: Brian Scott Award for Leadership and Dedication. The meeting took place at the Kahkwa Club.

Brian Scott (whom the award is in honor of) has been a board member of the FNL for 5 years, most recently the treasurer of the FNL board. His extensive involvement includes countless hours spent as an active board member working to rescue the FNL financially when funding from the state was cut in 2009. In 2010, Scott was Committee Chair for Tall Ships Erie, which raised a record $223,000 for the event. “Brian’s hard work, dedication and vision have ensured the success of the FNL for many years to come. Without Brian, it would have been a real challenge to survive tough times when funding was cut.” -Shawn Waskiewicz, Executive Director

The Dobbins Society is a group of private individuals and companies that donate a minimum of $1,000 a year to the cause. The society recognizes individuals whose support and generosity help in raising dollars for the Annual Fund each year. In addition, FNL raises funds in various other ways including membership, special events and through educational partnerships. The funds raised help support the Niagara and the Erie Maritime Museum as well as supporting the mission of FNL- promoting Erie and Pennsylvania’s history, culture and economy. The fund allows the organization to pay for substantial projects throughout the year. The 2013 funds will be used to support Niagara’s Sail Replacement Project.
